Biography & Experiences
SARAFINAH is a sickle cell warrior, a mother and a sister to the sickle cell generation. Because of her kindness, love and passion for sickle cell, the pubic calls her mother of nations. She’s a medical clinical officer by profession, has a certificate in medical laboratory technology. She’s an adviser at Nyondo group of companies and the vice chairperson at the Ugandan red cross society (mukono branch). In 2020 she was elected as the sub committee chair at the African sickle cell alliance(ASA) a united African federation joining more than 26 countries to unite Africa against sickle cell disease.
The CEO Nyondo Group of Companies and mother to Sarafinah started her journey towards sickle cell after losing her second born son to this illness. She later realized that her last born daughter had the same illness which was regarded as witchcraft in the family and community hence loosing her marriage in the process and with all the challenges she went through to raise her daughter, she decided to educate the mass about sickle cell disease and most especially care giving on how to deal with sickle cell patients.
Mariam zaynab is registered adult nurse working in the city of London. I studied at city university London. I love travelling and out door activities. My passion with sickle cell disease has been growing over years. My career as a health professional I have encountered many people who are affected by this illness. Which is less spoken about. My mission is to promote awareness and improve lives.
I started my journey in information technology at 17 years of age currently holding a degree in computer and electrical engineering technology dealing with front and backend web development. The experience we went through in our family with the sickle Cell disease influenced me to get involved in the fight against Sickle Cell. I enjoy watching sports and playing soccer in my free time.
